Corner-to-corner blankets are planned in blocks instead of ordinary horizontal rows. Once you know the finished size of one C2C block from a swatch, the blanket layout is the target width and height divided by the block size.
This calculator rounds up to full blocks, then gives the number of increase rows, rectangle rows, and decrease rows. For a square blanket, the rectangle section is zero. For a rectangular blanket, the rectangle rows are the difference between the long and short sides.
Worked example: a 40 x 50 inch C2C blanket with 2-inch blocks needs 20 blocks by 25 blocks. That is 500 blocks total and 44 diagonal rows: 20 increase rows, 5 rectangle rows, and 19 decrease rows.

What is a C2C block?
A C2C block is one diagonal unit of corner-to-corner crochet, often made from a small group of chains and stitches. Measure a swatch to find the finished width and height of one block.
Why does the calculator round up?
You cannot make a partial C2C block in the main grid. Rounding up makes sure the finished blanket is at least as large as the target size.
What are rectangle rows?
Rectangle rows are the middle diagonal rows worked after one side reaches its target block count while the longer side keeps growing. A square C2C blanket has no rectangle rows.
Does the yarn estimate include border yarn?
No. The estimate covers blocks only. Add a buffer for borders, weaving ends, joining color changes, and tension differences.
