About Knittster
I love this craft the way some people love a good long hike: for the rhythm of it, the small satisfying decisions, and the way a pile of string slowly turns into something you can wear. I also, somewhat less romantically, love a correct stitch count. Knittster is what happens when those two things meet.
Why This Exists
Somewhere around my third attempt at adjusting a sweater pattern to a gauge that didn't match the designer's, I sat down with a calculator app on my phone, a scrap of paper, and a swatch that was slowly getting fuzzy from being handled too much. It worked. It also took fifteen minutes and two mistakes to get a number I could have gotten in five seconds if the right tool existed. So I built the tool.
Then I built the next one, for the next piece of mid-project math I kept reaching for a napkin to solve. Then the one after that. Knittster is the collection of calculators I wished I'd had years ago, cleaned up enough that hopefully they save you the fifteen minutes too.
What I Promise You
Every calculator on this site runs entirely on your device. What you type into a field never leaves your browser, gets logged, or gets sold, because there's nowhere for it to go, there's no server collecting it in the first place. No account to make, no email to hand over, no app taking up space on your phone. Just numbers in, an answer out, back to your needles or hook.
Knittster stays free because of ads and a handful of curated Amazon links on pages where a specific tool genuinely helps (a gauge ruler, a yarn scale, that sort of thing). I only link things I'd actually reach for myself. If you want the full, unromantic details, they're on the privacy page.
